Manna Food Smart Sacks Takoma Park/Silver Spring

About

Description

One in four residents of Montgomery County are at-risk for hunger, and those highest at risk are children and the elderly. Help make sure our local at-risk children to not go hungry by volunteering in the Manna Food Smart Sacks Program!

More than 35% of public school students are eligible for free or reduced meals during the school week. Smart Sacks bridges the gap between Friday and Monday, providing nutritious foods for children and their families who might not have another meal until after the weekend.

Through the Manna Food Smart Sacks Program, Montgomery College students on all three campuses support over 100 hungry children and their families every week.

Montgomery College's Offices of Student Life and Service-Learning Program currently support the following schools:

GT: Fox Chapel Elementary School

RV: Beal Elementary School

TP/SS: Broad Acres Elementary School

DROP-IN VOLUNTEERS are needed Tuesdays from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. to help pack sacks on campus.

DRIVERS are needed to help pick up on a Monday and deliver food on a Wednesday as well.

If you would like to serve on your campus Manna Food leadership team, contact your campus service-learning coordinator.

We look forward to serving our community with you!
